Why is NPAC Participating:  The Broadway Street Fair will be attended by 15,000 people and give NPAC the opportunity to interface with a broad spectrum of the general public.  The Opera House will be open for quick tours where patrons will get updated on our progress, sign up to be an NPAC supporter, have their picture taken for the NPAC FB page, and enter a raffle to win their name on one of the new NPAC seats.

Location: OUTSIDE: Broadway from Equality Part to/including Washington Square

              Social Media of all participating Broadway businesses, vendors, musicians and artists

NPAC Audience:  This event will be attended by the full spectrum of NPAC supporters, donors and future audiences.

OPERA HOUSE TOURS:  The Opera House will be open from noon to 6pm for tours.

  • Volunteers will give tours
  • Promotional materials will be handed out
  • A Theater Seat will be on display
  • Raffle for an Opera House Theater Seat will take place – $5 per ticket  (gathering of new names for our database)
  • Photos of Supporters will be taken for display on FB
  • Fill out a “Who do YOU want to see on the stage of the Newport Performing Arts Center?” (gathering of new names for our database and survey info we can post on our FB page)

Event Description:  This is the 3rd year of the BSF.  The attendance has increased substantially from year to year.  10k attendees last year, with an anticipated 15K this year. It is hailed as a “live local” celebration – attracting vendors and audience from all of Newport County and beyond.  

Vendors: Almost 200 independent vendors will set up booths lining Broadway, and in Eisenhower Park in WS.  Vendors include purveyors of food, crafts, non-profits, educational programs, healthy lifestyles, community services, artwork, handmade offerings.    

Entertainment: There are 5 stages set up along Broadway and in Washington Square.  Each stage features 5 (45 min each) local performers. Music is played from 1pm to 6pm on all stages.  There is a family friendly zone up near Fifth Element, with a Bounce House, facepainting, balloon animals, water bottle filling station & street performers.  This year, there will be a chalk art contest in Washington Square featuring professional artists, and areas for amateur artist and children to create a masterpiece in their sidewalk square.  There is also a crazy hat contest throughout the Street Fair, all day. Prizes will be awarded at the Washington Square Stage.

New Event:  6 – 8pm – CRAFT BEER FESTIVAL – in a tent on the lawn of the Friends Meeting House

Over 5 local craft breweries will be showcasing their brews.  Tickets are $25 per person(over 21 years old) to enter the tent , which includes 1 complimentary drink.  Additional drink tickets will be sold in the tent. 2 local bands will be providing the entertainment during the beer fest.
